#SDCC Friday: Hasbro where art thou?

Hasbro's been struggling a bit to woo back disenchanted fans lately. They have Star Wars - the greatest franchise of all time - and for the last few years they've been disappointing fans and underwhelming us at nearly every turn.

Horrible product distribution, cheap 5-points of articulation figures and unsatisfying character choices.

With their SDCC exclusive 6" Black Series offering of Ben Kenobi, it feels like a welcome step in the right direction. Great looking figure with some nice, even illuminated accessories. A classic Star Wars figure:

That's definitely a step in the right direction, offering classic characters that have yet to receive a quality rendition.

I wish I could be as optimistic about Princess Leia. While the likeness is weak, what's being shown at Comic-Con isn't bad...

Because this is the version of Leia they had on display last weekend at Star Wars Celebration Europe - The Flying Nun, as played by Joan Crawford.

So what are we seeing now at SDCC? A hastily re-painted prototype? And does Hasbro have enough time to process all this negative fan reaction before the figure makes its way into production?

Here's hoping Hasbro shows us some things during their big reveal later today that makes it clear that they've listened, and that they're doing everything they can to get fans excited again.
