Attention X-Philes: Chris Carter is back!

X-Files creator Chris Carter is back - but not on a conventional network. Carter has a pilot for a new apocalyptic series called The After - but rather than roll it out on Fox or other cable staple, Carter's done the pilot with Amazon Studios, as they move to follow in the footsteps of the success Netflix has had with shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. The After is one of several new pilots up on Amazon - popularity and feedback will determine which shows get more episodes.

In Carter's pilot (which he also directed), something has brought human civilization to a halt and the power is off, with eight strangers trapped together following this mysterious, unexplained event.

Hoping to screen this soon - I'm hearing the second half is very different from the first half and that it's worth sticking around for, so best not to switch off too soon.
