Toy fans, if this isn’t spectacular news, then I don’t know
what is: after much speculation, toymaker NECA has made it official – they have
attained the likeness rights to the holy grail of action figures – the first-ever
figures of Lieutenant Ellen Ripley, thanks to the approval of actress Sigourney
Weaver! There has been much debate about this ever coming to pass, as Ms.
Weaver has been notoriously adamant about not allowing her likeness to be
turned into a figure or to be packaged in any way depicting the use of firearms.
Somehow, they must have come to an arrangement, because Ripley is joining the
35th Anniversary celebration.
The first figure will depict Ripley in her Nostromo jumpsuit from the original 1979 Alien film, followed later by a version from James Cameron’s 1986 Aliens. Prototypes of both will be on display this summer at San Diego Comic-Con! That Powerloader must be bigger than it looks!
